UAS4RS Joins forces with AEO 2020
Are you a doer, dabbler, or would-be dabbler interested in using drones for remote sensing? Come and join UAS4RS to inspire and be inspired once again in Brisbane, 28 Sept – 2 Oct.
In 2016 we ran the inaugural UAS4RS (Unmanned Aerial Systems for Remote Sensing) conference at the University of Queensland. We wanted to create a forum where those using drones for more than just ‘pretty pictures’ could come together to showcase the true value of drones as remote sensing data acquisition platforms.
We also wanted to create UAS4RS to encourage the community to network and collaborate around common challenges. We invited all ‘doers’, ‘dabblers’, and ‘would-be dabblers’, emphasizing that UAS4RS was for the whole community, regardless of expertise level or application interest.
With a successful format, content, and structure, we then took UAS4RS to Hobart in 2017. We wanted to push the boundary of showing how we can use ‘real data for real information’.
In 2018, we hosted UAS4RS in Melbourne to discover what great things we could achieve with small pixels. This fine spatial resolution is one of the biggest selling points of drone remote sensing!
After a brief hiatus in 2019, we are super excited to return UAS4RS in collaboration with the Advancing Earth Observation Forum, 2020 in Brisbane. With many of the same people involved with UAS4RS also on the AEO2020 steering committee, it made sense to join forces to ensure we could do justice to both gatherings.
The most popular aspects of networking and collaboration within UAS4RS will remain while it will sit as its own stream in AEO2020. We will have dedicated session and plenary speakers focused on the unique challenges of acquiring and processing drone based remote sensing data. Delegates will then also be able to enjoy the broader perspectives of the earth observation community in addition to those using drone platforms.
